Writing, publishing, and sharing infographics has become big business in recent years, especially as marketers have recognized the value of adding images to blog posts. In the case of infographics, making images the main substance of posts can garner big payoffs:
- A 2015 study of PR Newswire’s Top viewed articles, 68 included images, which garnered 1.4 times the number of views of text-only releases.
- According to a 2016 Contently study, infographics reach 54% more readers than blog posts.
What’s the reasoning behind this? Humans love images. We translate information from images much faster than we do from words (because words are actually images that we translate into an image in our heads before understanding—whoa.). Placing stats, figures, and informative content in images makes us more likely to remember the information and understand it.
